Simpleware presents to SeniorNet Auckland

We were given the opportunity is month to go and present at SeniorNet Auckland members meeting. The reception we received was fantastic and the members showed alot of interest in our work. We hope to install simpleware on the computers in the training facitities there and organise simpleware classes. Special thanks to John Ritchie for inviting us to present.

Presentation at SeniorNet Eastern-Bays
We were forntunate enough to present this months SeniorNet Eastern-Bays meeting. A good number of members attended the meeting and we received a great reception from them. One of main points of the presentation was the setting up a class on the Simpleware program at the SeniorNet and the response to this was encouraging from the members present. We received several orders on the day and hope that the word of our work has been spread further.

Simpleware now in Primary School
The start of April saw us installing Simpleware onto computers setup at Wesley Primary school. The computers were setup there as part of the Computers in Homes (CIH) project. The computers will be used by the chosen families to train on before receiving the our computers to take home. The computers at the school will then be available to the students to try out Simpleware for themself. We look forward to see the benefits Simpleware provides to these families.

Simpleware donates to CIH
Closer to the end of February we had an unexpected development with a group called “Computers in Homes”, www.computersinhomes.org.nz. A quick email and phone call and the next day Brad and I were attending a presentation by the national coordinator – Di Das. This was at Wesley Primary school where the next computers in homes course will be run. Simpleware will help to sponsor this next setup by volunteering our software onto their training machines in an effort to help. We look forward to some positive responses from the people involved in the course.

Open day at Seniornet Eastern-Bays
On the 17th of February we were very grateful to attend an Open Day at Seniornet Eastern Bays. The group there inspired by their very enthusiastic chairwoman did very well to organize the event. Brad and I could not believe the number of people that came through the doors all day and we had a great opportunity to show case our work to the people. We were also very pleased to receive interest from Seniornet into initial discussions for our software to go onto their training computers. This would be a dream come true for simpleware as it has always been our wish to support the efforts of Seniornet how ever we can. We also had the first opportunity to make acquaintance with Grant Stevens of Grace computers, www.gracecomputers.co.nz, a very interesting man who has been helping out the SeniorNet community for quite a few years. He had a lot of products on display including the insides of a computer all laid out on a board as a demonstration as to what actually happens when you turn your computer on.

Presentation at Seniornet Pakuranga
February saw the product launch of simpleware.
We started with our first presentation to Seniornet Pakuranga at the beginning of the month. The group at Pakuranga were the first to support us in the designing and building of simpleware and once again were the first when it was time to launch our software. The presentation went very well and we received a lot of interest and the first sales for simpleware too. A heartfelt thanks goes out to all the members of Seniornet Pakuranga you really got us started with a bang!
